Log Cabin - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1.  Do I need planning permission for my cabin?

In most cases planning permission is not required if the building is under 30m2.

2.  What type of wood are the cabins made from?

The cabins are made from first grade Northern European pine or Nordic spruce which is well known for its beneficial properties all over the world.

3.  Can I change the doors and windows from the standard package?

We offer a range of doors and windows which replace the standard package.

4. Can you build my log cabin for me?

We have a team of experts who work exclusively for us and are able to lay the base, insulate erect your cabin and stain or paint the finished item.  We offer a full service from concept to completion and will include as much or as little involvement as required.

5. Are the cabins available double-glazed?

6. What if there is not a cabin in your range to suit our requirements?

We can design and build a cabin to your exact requirements if you supply us with a floor plan.

7. How can I place an order?

8. Does the wood need to be treated

All external timber will need regular treatment.  We can offer this service as part of an ongoing maintenance contract or you can do it yourself.

9. How long will it take for my cabin to be delivered?

We have a large number of cabins in stock that are ready for delivery.  Other items will range from 2-4 weeks delivery.

10. Can I have electricity in my cabin?

Yes, but all electrical work must be completed in accordance with IEE wiring regulations BS7671 and installed by an approved electrician.  Again we can provide this service for you if required.

11. What is the cost of delivery?

12. How long will it take to erect the cabins?

Most cabins can be erected within 2 days.  Fitting the roof shingles is the time consuming part of the installation.

13. What kind of base do I need for my cabin?

A flat, solid base is required and this can come in various forms such as concrete pad, concrete plinth, paved base, timber frame base, breezeblocks, decking or sleepers.  The base ideally should be at least 2 inches above the existing ground level to deter damp.  The base should be at least 100 mm bigger than the cabin size.

14. How long will the log cabin last?

 This will depend on whether you follow the care plan we give you when you purchase your timber building.  If you treat the building every 2-3 years, then it should last a lifetime.

15. Can I get a reference?

 We are happy to provide a reference on request and can arrange viewings of previous projects.

16. What are the payment terms?

 You will be required to pay for your item up front and in full, including delivery if appropriate.  However, you may cancel your order at any time up to the end of the seventh working day from the date the order was placed at no cost.  To cancel your order you must notify us in writing quoting your reference number.
